The MS Instruments PLC Ballistic Data Acquisition System is an integrated unit, which is
used to gather data for complete ballistics analysis. Typically, it is used for Electronic Pressure Velocity and Action Time (EPVAT) measurements, however it can be configured in a number of different ways to act as a multi-purpose data-gathering unit. The data is then passed to a Range Processor where it is displayed using BDAS software.

The Optical Target Type 340 provides a virtual target plane for detection of a wide range of projectiles. Designedprimarily for indoor use, it can detect projectiles with calibres between 4mm and 150mm travelling at velocities between 10m/s and 2000m/s. It will measure the X-Y coordinate position of shots at rates of fire up to 10,000 rounds per minute with an accuracy of ± 2.5mm. The standard active target area on a self-standing frame is 1m x 1m, although the design allows for target areas of 5m x 5m and higher.

Optical Detector Type 858

The Type 858 Optical detector is used to generate an output pulse when a projectile passes immediately overhead. It can be used in conjunction with other units such as the 817 to provide a Projectile Velocity Measuring System Such a system can, to within an accuracy of up to 0.05%, record velocities from as low as 10 metres per second to in excess of 5000 metres per second. Under normal conditions, the projectile would be detected at a height of up to 500 times the projectile calibre.
